During the meeting, city representatives and residents voiced their concerns about the traffic and crime the project could bring to the Anne Arundel County town, as well as potential damage to the environment. The chain's representatives reiterated their proposal to improve roads to accommodate the increase in vehicle traffic.
Wal-Mart officials declined to offer more details on the project, which would occupy a 20-acre parcel on Route 3 near Cronson Boulevard. Wal-Mart has just applied for a building permit. In the meantime, the council has vowed to continue to contest the endeavor. The store would be the fifth Wal-Mart locale in the county.
