The project will include 1,500 slot machines, a poker room, four restaurants including Farraddays' steakhouse, a tropical-themed buffet and a New York-style delicatessen. The heart of the project will be a multi-story feature bar offering high action imagery and audio on multiple video displays. The project also includes new horse racing amenities including a high-tech sports bar and wagering area overlooking the track.
Jill Haynes, Isle of Capri Casinos' director of corporate communications, tells GlobeSt.com that the Pompano Park Harness Track is the only horse track the company owns. The current facility, which contains a grandstand, offers betting but adding a casino was a natural fit for the property. "Essentially another building will be constructed on the property."
Isle of Capri Casinos owns and operates the Pompano Park Harness Track. It also operates 15 casinos in 13 locations, including riverboat and dockside casinos in Biloxi, Vicksburg, Lula and Natchez, MS. and Bossier City and Lakes Charles, LA. The company also operates a casino in Freeport, Grand Bahama and holds a two-thirds interest in casinos in Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton, England.
