Fred Arena, former Northeast regional director of commercial real estate for the Irving, TX-based Archon Group, will oversee AFR's 30-person asset management team. A spokesperson for Archon tells GlobeSt.com the company is closing its regional office in Chatham, NJ.
Arena brings 21 years of experience in managing both private and public companies' real estate portfolios to his AFR post. Prior to working at Archon, he was senior vice president of asset management and general manager of the Parsippany, NJ-based SJP Properties, heading a team that oversaw 4.5 million sf of commercial space. Dave Nettina, AFR's chief financial and real estate officer, says Arena "will play an influential role in AFR's ongoing efforts to maximize asset value."
Carol Mellon will be responsible for sales in HHM's New Jersey and Philadelphia markets, and Marie Pennington-Buonanno will cover the Connecticut and Massachusetts markets. In a statement, Craig Stechman, VP of sales and marketing, says each "will spearhead and augment our existing sales efforts in an important cluster for HHM."
Mellon is the former vice president of sales and marketing for locally based Growth Properties. Before moving to Growth, Mellon served as Northeast regional director of sales for Palm Beach, FL-based Innkeepers Hospitality where she oversaw sales in the Northeast corridor and directed strategic partnerships across Innkeepers' Marriott- and Hilton-branded properties.Elizabeth Cimino has replaced Mellon at Growth.
Pennington-Buonanno formerly served as assistant director of sales for the Marriott Hotel in Trumbull, CT, which is owned by Arlington, VA-based Interstate Hotels and Resorts. Before that she held sales and marketing posts with Innkeepers where she launched a national sales initiative for a 78-property portfolio.
