The hotel, to be called the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Hotel and Spa at Bonnet Creek Resort, will be part of a nine-tower ownership resort to be developed and managed by Fairfield Resorts. The project is the first mixed-use venture between the Wyndham Resort Group and Wyndham Vacation Ownership. The Bonnet Creek Resort complex will include a total of 1,594 ownership units on 70 acres. Two towers with 251 units have already been constructed. Details of the remaining towers at the complex have not yet been released.
Plans for the hotel call for a two-level, 14,000-sf spa; meeting and conference space designed for groups from 200 to 300; restaurant; café; lobby bar; resort pool with poolside dining; cabanas equipped with televisions, ceiling fans, refrigerators and furnishings; whirlpool spas; fitness center; arcade and shuttle bus service to Walt Disney World theme parks. An 18-hole golf course designed by Rees Jones Inc. will be built at the complex.
"The hotel will be an upscale, full-service resort hotel with meeting and spa facilities designed to attract leisure domestic and international travelers, corporate and other business travelers, meeting groups and tour groups," Rich Roberts, vice president, communications, of Cendant Hotel Group tells GlobeSt.com.
Construction of the hotel is expected to begin in the third quarter with all phases of construction to be completed by the first quarter 2009. "This project represents a major accomplishment in our strategic plan to leverage the synergies of our company's hotel and vacation ownership components," says Stephen Holmes, Wyndham Worldwide chairman and CEO, in a prepared statement. "This project will demonstrate the combined strengths of our upscale Wyndham brand with our industry-leading vacation ownership business."
