Total revenues for the quarter came in at $226 million, increasing 14% from the same year-ago period. PF Chang's China Bistro's accounted for $183.7 million of the total, while Pei Weis made up the rest.

During the quarter the company opened four Bistros, bringing its total to 137 across the country, and seven Pei Wei units, upping that chain to 88. For the year management expects to open 19 new Bistros (one opened in the first quarter) and 30 Pei Weis, which had four first-quarter openings.

Since revenue has dropped at both brands, PF Chang's executives are predicting earnings per share for the quarter to come in between 29 cents and 31 cents. The company will release its full results on the morning of July 26.

During the first quarter, which ended on April 2, earnings per share were 36 cents. Same-stores sales were up 1.3% for the Bistros in the first quarter and fell 2% at Pei Wei units.
