FORT LAUDERDALE-Novi, MI-based homebuilder Crosswinds Florida Inc. is planning to break ground in the fall on Village Lofts, a 72-unit community at 700 NE 4th St.

The firm's marketing manager tells GlobeSt.com that the developers chose this location because it's in downtown Fort Lauderdale which is thriving. The development will be within walking distance of downtown businesses and attractions such as Riverwalk. No development cost was released.

The complex will contain single-story flats, two-story lofts and several two-story residences with studios on the ground floor. The size of the units range from 851 to 1,452 sf and pre-construction prices will begin in the mid-$300,000s.

The architects on the project are locally-based Pasquale Kurizky Architecture Inc. Sales of the units will begin in at the same as construction, which is expected to be completed in 12 to 15 months. Unit amenities will include granite kitchen counters, stainless steel appliances, vessel sinks, spiral industrial staircases and windows with impact-resistant glass. Complex amenities will include a second-floor swimming pool with sun deck, fitness center, underground parking and wireless Internet access. Other Florida projects by Crosswinds include Sterling Oaks in Naples; Sunset Cay and Portofino in Ft. Myers and Crosswinds in Cape Coral.
