POMPANO BEACH, FL-Houston-based food supplier Sysco Corp. has acquired a 169,960-sf distribution building at the Pompano Business Center for $19.7 million.

The Pompano Business Center is being developed by Atlanta-based IDI. IDI has completed the shell of the building acquired, called Building P. Sysco will complete tenant improvements and is expected to move into the space by the end of the year. The building, located at 2300 NW 19th St., contains 30-foot-high ceilings, 28 docks and 50-foot by 42-foot column spacing. "We typically lease our buildings, Sysco wanted to buy it so we sold it to them," IDI vice president of leasing Larry Dinner tells GlobeSt.com.

Dan Lewis and John Dohm, of West Palm Beach-based DP Lewis & Associates, represented Sysco in the transaction and Dinner represented IDI. "Sysco is expanding in the marketplace and the central location of Pompano Business Center is a good fit for its logistical operations," he says.

Pompano Business Center will contain 1.8 million sf when completed. So far, 11 buildings with 1.25 million sf have been completed. IDI is currently developing Building M, a 123,062-sf building scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2007. The 11 completed buildings are fully leased but Building M has not yet been leased, Dinner says.
