MIAMI-Locally based Lab Group Developers are planning to begin construction of Kubik, a 16-story, mixed-use condominium at 5700 Biscayne Blvd. on the west side of the Biscayne Corridor. Construction costs on the project are $83 million.

Locally based Charleville Development Corp. is the general contractor on the project. President Paul Murphy tells GlobeSt.com construction will begin in the next three to four months. "The units have been selling well," Murphy says.

The project, the only condominium project approved for the MiMo historic district, is expected to be completed in spring 2008. When complete, Kubik will comprise two towers. The south tower will have 183 bi-level units and the north will have 116 units. There will also be 41,745 sf of commercial space for sale. Pricing for the residential units range from the high $300,000s to $2.5 million. The principals of Lab Group Developers are Alejandro Alvarado, Jose Camilo Lega, Enrique Alvarado and Camilo Alvarado Boshell.

Units will contain ceiling heights of 19 to 24 feet with floor-to-ceiling windows. Other features include in-unit washers and dryers and pre-wiring for high-speed Internet. Building amenities will include a sundeck with lap pool, sunset cabanas and barbeque area and fitness center.
