The state Legislature approved the funding to pay for covers over the ramps connecting Interstate 93 to streets near the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway where plans are underway to build the Boston Museum, a YMCA community center and a new Center for Arts and Culture. Greenway supporters, who have asked the Legislature to override the governor's veto, said Romeny's decision could stall the development of projects along the 27-acre park.

Romney's veto was part of a $56 million spending package he cut from an approximately $189 million bill passed by the Legislature. The governor also vetoed funding for a number of other development projects, including a $5 million revitalization initiative for Quincy, MA, and $2.5 million for the Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation, which assists start up technology companies to establish a presence in Massachusetts.
