EOP owns more than 590 buildings and 105 million sf of space nationwide. At 1095, Verizon owns about 20%, or 200,000 sf of the building.
According to online data, each floor of the 41-story building, located on the corner of 42nd Street, contains about 34,000 sf. Therefore, MetLife could occupy nearly 20 floors of the building.
Brokers contacted by GlobeSt.com would not comment on the pending deal. A call to Equity Office corporate headquarters was followed up via email with: "We don't comment on marketplace rumor. Until a transaction is closed, no assumptions should be made."
A second deal is also mentioned in the same breath as the MetLife play at 1095 Sixth. The law firm of Dechler & Dechler has been mentioned as looking to lease as much as 200,000 sf, according to some in the know. But that deal is not as close to coming to fruition as the MetLife lease move.
