Oxford Commercial was formed when the local C&W office closed its doors in 1992. Three former C&W principals merged with the already existing Oxford Group to create Oxford Commercial. In 1997, the firm affiliated with the Los Angeles-based Colliers International Inc.
"While we've been a Colliers firm all these years, we've maintained many relationships with Cushman & Wakefield," says Spencer Hayes, Oxford Commercial's managing director. "Though companies compete in this industry, they also collaborate and we continued to work transaction with Cushman clients in the Austin market. This alliance is an outflow of the relationship we've already had in place with them."
Hayes tells GlobeSt.com that there will be no immediate staff changes from the alliance, but growth is anticipated. "We've gone from 12 professionals to 28 in three years. We expect to hire new brokers and grow at a very rapid pace," he adds."
Three Cushman & Wakefield appraisers will move into the Oxford Commercial office this week. Hayes anticipates other C&W non-broker services will be added to the mix in the future.
As for C&W, the alliance will help to improve its position in the Austin market. "Oxford Commercial is the leading full-service firm in Austin and we believe that our clients will benefit significantly through this addition to our alliance program," Dave Lawton, executive managing director of the C&W program, says in a press release.
