Current plans call for the construction of a 1.5-million-sfstructure that will contain both office and retail space along witha one-acre park on the irregularly-shaped parcel at 115 WinthropSquare. The firm also owns an adjacent building at 133 FederalSt.
"The Trans National team has made a significant financialcommitment to the city, and they have brought a project proposal tous that would serve as a model for sustainable growth and design--aconcept that the City of Boston is deeply committed to," saysMenino in a statement.
Designed by architect Renzo Piano, plans for the environmentallyfriendly building call for a mix of retail and office uses,including a year-round public market that will sell locally grownorganic items.
