DuPree rejoined the company after serving as CEO of locally based Barry Real Estate Cos. In his new position, he will continue to oversee the company's real estate development operations and will continue to report to chairman and CEO Tom Bell.

"For nearly 15 years, Dan has had a tremendous impact on the creativity, culture and overall success of this company," Bell says. "He is a consummate developer, an insightful leader and a great corporate citizen. I am thrilled the board decided to give Dan the title to match his role at Cousins."

Prior to joining Barry in 2002, DuPree was with Cousins for more than nine years, beginning in 1992. He has served as senior vice president and senior executive vice president. Prior to joining the company, he was president of New Market Cos., Inc., a retail development and management company acquired by Cousins in 1992.

DuPree's move to president comes on the heels of Cousins Properties' founder and chairman Thomas Cousins retired in December. In the wake of that move, Bell assumed the chairman position, leaving the presidency open, as GlobeSt.com previously reported.
