"We feel confident that experienced world travelers will be eager to experience our trademark hospitality in world cities beyond our existing gaming destinations," says MGM chairman/CEO Terry Lanni. The new division will be overseen by Gamal Aziz, who also will continue in his role as president and COO of MGM Mirage Las Vegas.
In December, MGM announced two partnerships that would develop non-gaming resorts internationally. The first was a development partnership with the Abu Dhabi government's Mubadala Development Co. The second was a partnership with the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing.
The partnership with Mubadala will start with projects in Abu Dhabi, Las Vegas and the UK. The Diaoyutai partnership will initially focus on the People's Republic of China.
