BRUNSWICK, GA-Liberty Harbor LLC has named George Ward as CEO and Andrew Bernard as senior project manager of the $2-billion, 135-acre waterfront development. Both had been with WCI Communities of Bonita Springs, FL.

The development subsidiary for Cleveland-based WW Holdings Inc. has made Ward responsible for the overall planning and development of construction and on-site services as well as the management, motivation and success of the project team, including project and construction managers, sales staff and outside consultants. Bernard will oversee the day-to-day operational and technical aspects of current and future phases of the project, which will include 1,600 residential units and 250 single-family lots, boardwalk and 350-slip marina and yacht club.

Bernard tells GlobeSt.com that infrastructure work has started for the first phase of the project: six high-rise condominium towers and 134 single-family lots. "We've started to build the roads and install the utilities," Bernard says. "We expect to be completed sometime in the fourth quarter after which time we will begin construction."

Bernard adds that the boardwalk and marina and yacht club currently are being designed, with construction expected to start during the phase one construction. "I manage the construction team and my job is to make sure the project is completed on time and under budget," he says.

WCI Communities didn't return a telephone call by press time to comment on the exit of Bernard, who was its construction manager, and Ward, who was vice president of the Northeast Florida Tower Division. Bernard also had worked as at project manager for Dicky Smith & Co. and Summit Contractors Inc., both in Jacksonville, FL. Ward had overseen construction of eight high-rise residential developments during his tenure at WCI Communities. His background also includes vice president of Fort Lauderdale-based Moss/Anderson, where he launched and directed its development division.
