New York City-based Rockefeller Group Development Corp. andKimco Developers Inc., the developers of the 54-acre, $235-millionMiramar Town Center, will begin building the two-story fitnesscenter at the corner of Red and Hiatus roads in the next month. Itis slated for completion early next year.

24 Hour Fitness director of real estate Bill Oughton describedthe town center as a strategic location for the company. "Webelieve we will receive tremendous support from the residents ofMiramar as we expand our presence in South Florida through our ShaqSport Clubs," Oughton says, in a prepared statement.

Construction on Miramar Town Center, located on Red Road betweenPembroke Road and Miramar Parkway, began in April 2006. It willinclude 133 townhomes, 355 condominiums, 16 live/work units,175,000 sf of retail and restaurants, more than 50,000 sf of officespace and a mass transit hub. The entire complex is slated forcompletion in late 2009 or early 2010.
