BURLINGAME, CA-Real estate columnist Bob Bruss, a long-timeleader with the National Association of Real Estate Editors, diedof cancer-related complications last week at his northernCalifornia home. He was 67.

Sometimes referred to as the “Dear Abby of Real Estate,” Brussscribed the weekly syndicated “Real Estate Mailbag”question-and-answer real estate column for more than 20 years. Healso penned the “Real Estate Notebook” feature on real estatetrends, “Real Estate Law and You” about recent court decisionsaffecting real estate, and “Real Estate Book Review” features. Bobalso wrote several books, including “The Smart Investor's Guide toReal Estate.”

Bruss, who received his law degree from the University ofCalifornia's Hastings College of Law in San Francisco, joined Nareein 1978. He served as the organization's director once and as ismembership secretary for many years. Bruss also taught real estatelaw at the College of San Mateo and in 1997 won the Norman WoestOutstanding California Real Estate Educator Award.
