A spokesperson for CBRE tells GlobeSt.com that Hodos reports to Alison Lewis, senior managing director of the company's New York Tri-State Region Retail Services group. His responsibilities will include advising top national and global retail brands in meeting their occupancy needs in New York, nationally and throughout the world, the spokesperson adds.
"With nearly 20 years of experience in the industry--including a previous stint at CBRE predecessor firm the Edward S. Gordon Co.--Richard has established himself as one of the premier retail tenant representatives in commercial real estate," notes Lewis. "Between building his own successful brokerage company and establishing constructive, long-term relationships with some of the world's top retail brands, Richard's comprehensive understanding of client needs and proven leadership capabilities make him an excellent fit for us."
The spokesperson tells GlobeSt.com that Hodos was attracted to the position due to the "depth and breath of CBRE's global client service platform."
As president and co-founder of Madison HGCD, a locally based retail brokerage and consulting firm, Hodos spearheaded a multimillion-dollar business, assisting retailers in developing national and regional expansion and disposition strategies. His clients included such high-end retail companies as Tiffany & Co., Barney's, Coach, Esprit, Michael Kors, Cole Haan, J.Crew, and Limited Brands, among other iconic names.
Prior to Madison HGCD, Hodos was an executive managing director at Lansco Corp. His responsibilities included introducing the Sephora brand to the US market as well as locating and securing all of the company's street storefronts on the East Coast. Along with a partner, he also represented the Onassis Foundation in the lease of an entire blockfront on Fifth Avenue between 51st and 52nd streets, and Gianni Versace in the 25,000-sf lease of its flagship store at 647 Fifth Ave.
During his tenure at the Edward S. Gordon Co., Hodos was an associate director in the firm's retail division, and was responsible for bringing CompUSA to Manhattan as well as Calvin Klein's flagship store at 654 Madison Ave.
