450,000-sf

"We will continue to locate and deliver new turnkey facilities to meet the needs and requirements of our expanding customer base," says John Galiher, president and CEO of the Newark-based Preferred Freezer Services. Located at 106-166 Bayway Ave., the new building includes a total of nearly 142,900 sf of freezer space. Also part of the asset is 37,185 sf of dock and mechanical room space, and 21,600 sf set aside for build out as office areas. Cost of the new plant hasn't been released; actual construction began earlier this year.

"Preferred Freezer is an organization that is experiencing rapid growth and expansion across the country," says Daniel DeMarco, a partner of the Braintree, MA-based Campanelli. "As a developer of turnkey facilities, we look forward to assisting Preferred with its warehouse needs as the company continues to broaden its geographic needs.

And Campanelli and Preferred Freezer have done this before--the local facility represents one of 15 that Campanelli is currently building or has already built for the cold-storage company. Those facilities include Preferred's headquarters in Newark, and cold-storage distribution centers in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Norfolk, and three locations in Massachusetts. Besides the local facility, ongoing projects are rising in Jacksonville, FL and Everett, MA. Founded in 1989, Preferred Freezer now has nearly two dozen facilities totaling more than 160 million cubic feet.
