The new tenants have signed on because "They know that thecommunity is more than ready for their offerings," according toKenneth Lee, vice president of development for the West CoastCommercial division of Forest City Enterprises.The expansion willalso include the construction of two new parking structures thatwill serve customers visiting both the existing mall and the newlifestyle center.

The new retailers will provide "shopping opportunitiespreviously unknown to this part of the Inland Empire," notes Lee.Forest City expects to sign numerous other retailers andrestaurants over the course of the construction, which is expectedto be completed in time for an opening in the spring of 2009. Theexpansion is being designed by F&A Architects, withWhiting-Turner as the general contractor.

The Promenade, located off the intersection of Interstate 15 andWinchester Road,is anchored by Macy's, JC Penney, Sears, andEdwards Cinemas. It features more than 140 shops and restaurantsoccupying a two-level mall and outdoor entertainment area on a75-acre site that opened in 1999 and was renovated in 2002.
