In only 18 months, Mintz Levin has tripled the size of it San Diego office to now employ 23 attorneys, notes T.D. Rolf, managing director in Studley's San Diego office. Rolf and Mike Catalano, senior vice president and branch manager of Studley's West Los Angeles office, represented the law firm, which they have also represented in Century City, Santa Monica and Palo Alto, CA as well as in Washington, DC.
Rolf calls the deal "an aggressive transaction" despite the limited availability of comparable space in that size range in the submarket. The new lease is designed to accommodate the future growth of the law firm's San Diego office by securing "a number of options to expand within the building," he says.
The Gateway at Torrey Hills is a two-building, 200,000-sf class A office project at 3580 Carmel Mountain Rd. in San Diego's Torrey Hills submarket. The building's landlord, Cisterra Partners, was represented by Joe Anderson, Rick Reeder and David Odmark of Grubb & Ellis|BRE Commercial. Mintz Levin, an international law firm with eight offices and more than 500 attorneys, opened its office in San Diego in June of 2006.
