The REC Tribute Dinner, as the event is known, is the centerpiece fund-raising event for the REC division's activities and is one of the industry's largest networking events each year, typically drawing up to 1,300 real estate professionals from throughout Southern California. The dinner honors a senior real estate industry professional "in recognition of his or her success, generosity and compassion," according to the organization's announcement of the upcoming event. Past honorees have included Stanley Black, Jona Goldrich and Richard Ziman, among others.

The Jewish Federation is the central planning, coordinating and fund-raising body for 22 local and international agencies that offer a broad range of social, educational and humanitarian services to the entire community, both Jewish and non-Jewish. The REC division, which raised more than $8.5 million in 2007, is the largest business division at the federation, with more than 1,000 members who meet regularly to network, do business, discuss trends in the real estate and construction industry and conduct philanthropic work.
