The space that the MPAA will relocate to formerly was occupied by Warner Bros. Entertainment's animation group, according to Studley's Mark Robinson and Craig Jablin. Robinson and Jablin, both corporate managing directors at Studley's West Los Angeles office, represented the MPAA in the lease, which is for 8.5 years. Terms of the lease were undisclosed, but industry sources peg it at $31 million.

Robinson says that the space works out especially well for the movie-makers because the Galleria office building, since it was formerly occupied by a major entertainment company, contains the screening rooms and technology needed by the MPAA. The location near the interchange of the San Diego (I-405) and Ventura (I-101) freeways is also convenient and accessible for all of the member studios, he says. Another advantage of the building for the MPAA is that the parking at the Sherman Oaks Galleria can accommodate the large meetings and groups that often occupy the space, he adds.

The MPAA's new space is on the first and second floors of the 15301 Ventura Blvd. building. It will share the 104,634 sf with three of its affiliate groups, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), the Directors Guild of America Contract Administration and the Directors Guild Producer Training Plan.

The six studio members of the MPAA include Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, Universal City Studios LLLP and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. Warner Bros. was represented by Matt Hargrove and Michael Shellow of Cushman & Wakefield in the sublease.
