Plans for the as-yet unnamed resort were unveiled yesterday in Oklahoma City. The project will include a 400-room hotel, 10,000-sf spa, 15-screen cinema, 72-lane bowling center and 70,000 sf of retail. Also on the drawing board is a 2,400-seat performance center. The development site is west of Interstate 35 between Britton Road and Wilshire Boulevard in the city's "Adventure District."

In November, the tribe acquired the land from Premier Assets for $4.5 million. The developer is Shawnee Development LLC from Miami, OK.

In a press release, Greg Pitcher, chairman of the development company, says the resort, which will create thousands of jobs, is projected to have an economic impact of $354 million per year. He says tribal leaders are trying to enter into an agreement with city and county officials for revenue-sharing payments to the local government.

"We are planning a full-scale destination resort that will complement other Adventure District attractions, create jobs, boost revenue to local government, make millions of dollars in purchases from local vendors and be an involved community partner," Pitcher adds." It will also help the Shawnee provide its members with healthcare, education, housing, career training and other important services." Calls to Pitcher were not returned by deadline.
