On Jan. 25

The resort will open with at least 1,200 guest rooms and a majority of guest services, including the casino, meeting and convention facilities, the wedding chapel, most restaurants, the spa and Lance Burton's magic show. Another 1,300 rooms, as well as the buffet and the Monte Carlo Brew Pub, are scheduled to open on Feb. 22.

The final 500 rooms--located on the upper floors most damaged by the fire--will remain out of service for the time being. MGM Mirage is using the predicament as an opportunity to extensively redesign the guest rooms.

MGM Mirage has not yet released any damage estimates. The hotel was completed in 1998 at a cost of $344 million.
