With construction completed, approximately 300 new residents are expected to move into the community, which is at 1940 Levante St., by the end of March. The fourth and final phase represents the culmination of years of planning and construction, according to Michael O'Connor, vice president of marketing for La Costa Glen. The 281-acre community in south Carlsbad near Batiquitos Lagoon first opened in 2002.

O'Connor said that phase four reflects the interests and needs of the community's current and future residents. When Carlsbad-based Continuing Life was designing the amenities and activities for its final phase, the company talked with the current residents to get their input, he points out. "The clubhouse and fitness activities are especially popular, so we incorporated more of those features into our final phase, in addition to the indoor pool, movie theater and short-game golf course," he explains.

Continuing Life Communities develops and operates leading continuing care retirement communities throughout California. Beginning in 1991 with the opening of Morningside of Fullerton and continuing with the development of La Costa Glen Carlsbad and University Village Thousand Oaks, the company developed of nearly 2000 independent, assisted living, skilled nursing, and Alzheimer care residences.
