MIAMI-The Miami Downtown Development Authority has launched afacade improvement grant program for existing buildings in theshadows of the city's newer condominium and office towers. Theprogram is intended to assist building owners within the historicdistrict to improve their exteriors, beautify properties andmitigate code violations.

According to the published guidelines, the program is designedto incentivize exterior improvements to commercial properties inorder to create a better environment for customers, residents, andvisitors. While other Miami DDA programs contribute to streetscapeimprovements and enhanced safety, the environment still lacks theaesthetics required to attract quality retail, evening activity andcustomers, according to the program guidelines.
