Sara Lee will move into 3425 E. Van Buren St. in July. "This will be a just-in-time distribution facility for its baked products," Mark Krison, senior vice president with CB Richard Ellis' Phoenix office, tells GlobeSt.com. The Downers Grove, IL-based Sara Lee operates several bakery and distribution sites in the metro.
Krison worked with CBRE colleagues Scott D. German and Carole M. Uhrig to represent the building's owner, LNR Property Corp. of Newport Beach, CA. Thomas Louer, principal of Phoenix-based Lee & Associates, was the tenant's representative.
Washington Airport Center has industrial condominiums for sale and lease. Krison says the owner is asking about $115 per sf, with the space divisible to 13,000 sf. In the latest sale, a CBRE press release reports that Wesco Distributing of Pittsburgh got an 82,450-sf spot for $8 million or $97 per sf. The buyer's broker was David Koch of Dallas-based Fischer & Co.'s Pittsburgh office while the CBRE sales team included German, Uhrig and senior vice president Robert Crum.
LNR bought the 17-acre development tract for $7.62 million in late 2006 from Lauth Property Group of Indianapolis, keeping the developer in place to build Washington Airport Center. The building was completed in late 2007.
