Donatelli did not return calls in time for deadline. The ParkPlace project is one of the District's larger affordablehousing/transit projects. It includes 161 residential units, townhomes and retail. It is located directly above the GeorgiaAvenue/Petworth Metrorail Station.

Donatelli Development and Gragg & Assoc. were awardeddevelopment rights to the project in 2004 by the District. It is ajoint-venture with Canyon Capital Realty Advisors and Earvin"Magic" Johnson. Twenty percent of the residential units will bemade available at affordable rates. The project also includes16,000-sf of retail and 187 underground parking spaces. It isexpected to be complete next year.

This part of town has been a key focus for Mayor Adrian Fenty'sadministration. The District recently made available $10 million inneighborhood-based tax increment financing to encourage otherretail projects on Georgia Ave. Also, its Great Streets program isworking with property owners to make façade improvements tostorefronts while the District Department of Transportation isproviding more than $20 million worth of streetscape improvementsalong the Georgia Ave. corridor.
