Executives with DP Partners, a unit of commercial real estatefirm Dermody Properties, say Dole will occupy nearly half of theindustrial building at 101 Clyde Alexander Lane in Pooler, lessthan a mile north of Interstate 16 and four miles west of the Portof Savannah. They add that the lease validates the developer'sinvestment in new distribution facilities in the Savannahmarket.

"We had a wide variety of sites to select from in the greaterSavannah area, and LogistiPort was one of the top sites due to itsproximity to the fourth-largest container port in the US," saysScott Campbell, director of logistics for Dole Packaged Foods. Hesays the 20-employee center will distribute Dole products within a500-mile area of the Southeast.

Michael Alderman, DP Partners' eastern region partner inSavannah, calls the Dole lease "a feather in the cap" of bothLogistiPort and the city of Pooler. He says the landlord is indiscussions with a significant number of prospects to lease theother 870,000 sf at the 72-acre park.
