Pier Village has already brought 320 rental residential unitsand more than 100,000 sf of retail to market, and a four-buildingsecond phase is set to add another 223 units, 12,000 sf of retailand a 24-unit condo hotel on the 16-acre site along Ocean Blvd.Construction is well under way, with delivery slated for a littlelater this year.

"This area was crying out for redevelopment," says architectDave Minno of the Lambertville-based Minno & Wasko Architects.His firm teamed with the Hoboken-based Dean Marchetto Architects todesign Pier Village.

"Just six years ago, this 16-acre site was a virtual ghost townof dilapidated buildings and abandoned housing," Minno says. "Nowthere are jobs at Pier Village, and people are making this adestination. Most of the development in this area in the past 20 or30 years didn't really promote quality redevelopment or bring jobsto the area."
