Arbor Network's existing headquarters office is located at 430 Bedford St. Its new building at 6 Omni Way is owned by NPV Direct Invest and leased by Kronos, an office management systems company. The new headquarters will be located at the intersection of Route 3 and Interstate 495, a midway point between Arbor's existing headquarters and a company that it recently acquired. John Boyle from DTZ-FHO represented the sublessor, Kronos, while Jon Varholak of Richards Barry Joyce & Partners represented Arbor. John Boyle declined to comment upon the deal.

Recently, Arbor purchased Merrimack, NH-based Ellacoya Networks to follow a mandate of "acquiring new products and technologies that expand and augment its solution set," according to a release on Arbor's website. This move, according to RBJ, is to facilitate the consolidation of Ellacoya's New Hampshire office at 7 Henry Clay Dr. into one office with Arbor.

Chelmsford, MA is roughly 25 miles from Merrimack, NH and about 15 miles from Lexington. Route 3 runs through all three cities, making it a convenient commute from either of the previous office spaces.

Chelmsford is located in the North 495 Boston submarket. The price of the sublease couldn't be obtained by deadline, but office space averages $21.93 per sf in the North 495 submarket, according to second quarter numbers from Cushman & Wakefield Inc.

Arbor says the company absorbed Ellacoya because they "augmented our deep packet inspection [DPI] capabilities and they were also well-established with leading players in that area." This references an online security system Ellacoya has developed which has "the ability to understand, on a packet level, what is going through a network," Arbor explains, regarding packets of information traversing a computer network. "It's hard to see every single packet, a lot of people can see some, they can sample. Picture the 'I Love Lucy' and if she could pick up every piece of that candy. DPI can." This allows the security system to monitor every piece of information that is transferred over a network.
