The broker is David Atwell, a longtime matchmaker for propertiesalong the Las Vegas Strip. Operating as Resort Properties ofAmerica, he has represented the likes of Steve Wynn, SheldonAdelson, Bank of America and Hilton Hotels, among others. In 1998,he brokered the record-breaking $157-million sale of the 168-acreDunes Hotel and Country Club, which is now home to the Bellagio andMonte Carlo resorts, and MGM's massive new CityCenterdevelopment.

Atwell sued Tel Aviv-based El-Ad in mid- 2007 for $12.5million, the 1% brokerage fee he felt he was owed for initiatingthe transaction between the principal owner of El-Ad Group, Israelibillionaire Yitzhak Tshuva, and then land owner Wichita billionairePhil Ruffin.

While the details of the settlement are confidential Atwelltells GlobeSt.com the amount he received is one of the largestbrokerage fees ever paid in Las Vegas by dollar amount, which isappropriate considering that, at $35.4 million per acre, it was themost expensive large land sale ever recorded in the market.
