Biomarin occupied 318,000 sf in the US at the start of the year, all of it north of San Francisco in the Marin County city of Novato, CA, where the company is headquartered. The Brisbane office will house staff in biostatistics, statistical programming, clinical data management, medical writing and other clinical development functions.
"The new office in Brisbane will help us sustain this growth and provide access to talent in the vibrant peninsula bio-pharma marketplace," said Mark Wood, a VP in Biomarin's human resources division.
Biomarin is a multinational company with offices in the UK, Brazil and the Middle East in addition to the US. The company says the new Brisbane office is part of a larger corporate expansion that has progressed throughout the past two years and includes its recent purchase of 300 Bel Marin Keys Blvd. in Novato.
