Located on Dean Martin Drive, just across Interstate 15 from the Las Vegas Strip, the resort is the largest Hampton Inn in the country and the only one with a lounger and gaming machines. Other amenities include a lagoon-style pool and flowing waterfall and 10,000 sf of meeting and event space, and no charge for breakfast or wireless Internet access.

Jackson-Shaw executive Christopher Sheldon cited IHR's regional team and its centralized accounting department as reasons for its selection. IHR also manages the 550-room Renaissance Las Vegas next to the Las Vegas Convention Center, in which Jackson-Shaw also has an ownership stake.

Sheldon tells GlobeSt.com that Jackson-Shaw developed the Hampton Inn Tropicana and before the renovation had managed the asset under its wholly-owned Encore subsidiary. IHR's management of the Renaissance property will allow for some synergies, he said.

IHR owns seven hotels (2,045 rooms) outright, has stakes in an additional 48 properties and manages a total of 225 (46,000 rooms) in the US, Canada, Ireland, Mexico and Russia. From June 2007 to June 2008, the company added 57 new management contracts and lost 23 management contracts. IHR manages more Hampton Inn properties (31) than any other brand, though it manages more rooms for Marriott, Sheraton and Hilton.
