Alexei Sidnev, in a statement, explains, "We selected Interstate because of their remarkable track record and quality of service, significant operating experience in Moscow and familiarity with the complexities of mixed-use developments. They have a well-established reputation here as an independent third-party operator and are one of only a handful of firms that could handle a project of this size and scope."
The project is set to include a 420,000-square-foot ski arena, a 312,000-square-foot entertainment zone, 162,000 square-feet of retail and the 205,000-square-foot hotel. The hotel is slated for 300 rooms and the complex will contain an additional 250,000 square-feet for residential units. The cost of the project is not disclosed and neither MT Development, not Interstate Hotels & Resorts returned GlobeSt.com inquiries by deadline.
Other amenities that the project boasts will be bars, restaurants, movie theaters, an aqua park, science museum and a shopping center. "We plan to take advantage of the operating synergies and economies of scale that result from our extensive knowledge of Russian hospitality," offers Thomas F. Hewitt, Interstate's CEO, in a statement.
