The site will serve as the North American headquarters forSalerm Cosmetica, a Barcelona, Spain-based company that distributeshair salon products, equipment and furniture. The building willprovide a combination of office, showroom and warehouse space. Acompletion date and the cost of the facility have not beenreleased.

It will also be the global company's first to be designed usingsustainable principles and LEED guidelines, according to JustinMihalik, a principal of the Livingston, NJ-based Jarmel KizelArchitects and Engineers, which is doing the civil engineering workfor the site and design and engineering work for the buildingitself.

"This project is a great example of sustainable design," Mihaliksays. "We're able to use building information modeling and othertechnologies in the design, and the building will utilizehigh-performance HVAC equipment and a building automationsystem."
