O&S Holdings LLC of Santa Monica, CA broke ground on themixed-use, $200-million Bridge Street Towne Center in February2008. The 82-acreproject at US Hwy 75 and State Hwy. 121 also calls forabout 400,000 square feet of retail and 100,000 square feet ofoffice space.

According to another local source McKinneyNews.net, constructionwas halted in mid-October following a letter sent by O&SHoldings to general contractor Beck Construction, telling the firmto stop work immediately. O&S had requested additional fundsfrom the McKinney Community Development Corp. on Oct. 7, citingrising project costs. Area sources say, however, that the $5.5million likely wouldn't be enough to bring the project to ahalt.

The city council is scheduled to discuss zoning issuesconcerning the Bridge Street Town Centre site with the Planning andZoning Commission at a joint meeting on Dec. 9. Read more about thesituation at McKinneyUpdate.comand McKinneyNews.net.
