"This location is our eighth in New Jersey and first in the Meadowlands," says Bill Horner, SVP and chief real estate officer for the Irvine, CA-based LA Fitness. "This location is consistent with our belief that convenience, which we define as accessibility and great parking, can be a major component of a personal fitness program."
The site is at the intersection of Harmon Meadow Boulevard and Park Plaza Drive, and is adjacent to a 1,000-space parking garage serving surrounding office buildings. And LA Fitness is the latest of several retail names that have moved into Hartz's Harmon Meadow development.
In 2008, for example, Kerasotes ShowPlace started construction for a 14-screen theater, now slated to open in the fall. TJ Maxx, Toys 'R' Us and Babies 'R' Us all opened new stores in the past year at Mill Creek Mall within Harmon Meadow, and Raymour & Flanagan will open in June in the space formerly occupied by Linens 'n Things. The center of Harmon Meadow, Plaza Courtyard was also renovated, a project completed in August.
