The organization is currently located at 277 South Washington St. in nearby Alexandria, VA. The rent Communities will be paying in its new space is comparable, says Studley managing director Wendy Feldman Block, who represented Communities in Schools in the transaction, along with colleagues Joan Sapienza and Scott Howard. Among the reasons it opted for the move was an office space that is more easily configurable and the amenities it had in Crystal City, she tells GlobeSt.com.

In fact the submarket--which only a few years ago was traumatized by the Base Realignment and Closure Act's decision to leave the submarket--has become an alternative for non-profits that do not have to be in the District and want competitive rates. "This has been a growing trend for Crystal City," says Feldman Block.
