According to Department of Buildings records, plans were filed on Monday and the application was assigned to an examiner on Tuesday. A spokesman for Extell did not provide GlobeSt.com with further details by deadline on the project's estimated costs or completion date.
Extell's application calls for a 73-story tower 953 feet tall. It will include 150 residential units, according to DOB records. In December, the New York Post reported that the hotel component would be a Hyatt; this could not be confirmed by Tuesday's GlobeSt.com deadline.
Architect on the project is Costas Kondylis & Associates. Kondilys is also working on Extell's 880,000-square-foot Riverside South residential project on the Upper West Side.
In July, GlobeSt.com reported that Extell and its partners the Carlyle Group and RREEF secured a $613-million construction loan on Riverside South. That project will include a mix of for-sale and rental apartments in two buildings. At the time, Extell president Gary Barnett said in a prepared statement that "the Upper West Side continues to be a big draw."
GlobeSt.com in December reported progress on another Extell project, the 1.5-million-square-foot World Product Centre that will serve as a trade mart for medical service companies from around the world to showcase new products. Excavation and marketing had begun on the 60-story project, to be built at 555 W. 33rd St. Extell is developing the 977-foot tower, scheduled for completion in 2013, in partnership with the Greater New York Hospital Association.
