"We're very pleased to bring our upscale extended-stay brand to the Milwaukee market," says Robert Radomski, vice president of global brand management Extended-Stay Brands IHG. "Whether traveling on business, relocating or planning a vacation with family, our guests in the Milwaukee metro area will find that Staybridge Suites offers the best of home and hotel."
The Staybridge Suites Milwaukee Airport South is located seven miles from General Mitchell International Airport. Ground broke on the 118-key, $12-million hotel on February 2, 2008. IHG's holdings in the area will continue to expand with new locations in Milwaukee and Oconomowoc.
The Milwaukee hotel, located at 1150 N. Water St., broke ground in October 2007 and is expected to deliver in the second or third quarter. The Staybridge Suites Milwaukee will contain 117 rooms. Construction on the Oconomowoc asset started in August 2008. The 128-key Staybridge Suites Milwaukee West – Oconomowoc is going up at 1141 Blue Ribbon Dr. The development cost for these two projects was not disclosed.
"We see strong demand for the upscale extended-stay product in the Milwaukee metro area," says Radomski tells GlobeSt.com. "Typical demand drivers for Staybridge Suites include corporate offices, government facilities, educational institutions and medical facilities. There are quite a few of these in the individual locations where we're growing in Milwaukee, like Honeywell, St. Francis Hospital, Northwestern Mutual, Pabst Farms, Marquette University and the federal courthouse."
The new hotel is owned by Franklin Hotel Company LLC and is managed by the Bricton Group Inc., under a license agreement with a company in IHG.
In addition to the Milwaukee and Oconomowoc assets, IHG is also constructing a midscale extended-stay Candlewood Suites, Radomski tells GlobeSt.com The Candlewood Suites Milwaukee Airport-Oak Creek is coming out of the ground at 6440 S. 13th St. After breaking ground in November, it's expected to deliver during the second quarter.
