The sealed bid will be open until 1pm on May 1, 2009.

The Carriage Factory, originally built in 1896 by William Durant and J. Dallas Dort, at one time housed the headquarters of Durant-Dort Carriage Co. Once carriages ceased to be the main mode of transportation, the building became home to Dort Motor Car Co., considered a precursor to General Motors.

In 1975 the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The property will be sold through the Commercial Property PowerSale, an accelerated marketing program that was made by NAI Global with the hopes of bridging the gap between buyers and sellers of distressed assets. Through the Commercial Property PowerSale, owners can divest of their failing asset via auctions, sealed bids or a combination of the two.
