Another 20,000 square feet of small shop space at Ormond Beach Mall will receive new storefronts, while the remainder of the center will get a new parking lot and lighting. Century Retail acquired the property in January for $8 million.
"We feel a new Publix and shopping center facelift will be a nice asset for the community, says Charlie Boscarino, Century Retail president. He estimates that the project will be completed by the end of this year, with the new Publix slated to open in January 2010.
Century Retail leases and manages more than 80 properties throughout the Southeast, mainly in Central Florida. The company recently completed a redevelopment project in Lakeland and plans two other Publix rebuilding projects over the next 15 months.
