We sat in on the first session of the International Could of Shopping Centers RECon conference and were shocked to find out that social networking firms, such as MySpace, could possibly open stores in malls. This intelligence was supplied by Kate Ancketil, managing director of London-based of GDR Creative Intelligence.Over in the UK, there is already a place called the Hub Culture Pavilion where people can network in person as if they're online. So it's a situation where something faceless like Facebook becomes a personal experience. So how do they make money? We missed that part of the presentation. In other news, RECon is fairly empty, but it's still Sunday, before the major deal-making rush. We attended Retailer Runway and liked the presentation by AutoZone, a company that never fails to impress. Their stock is trading at nearly $160.....$160!!!!! It's a business that seems to make sense right now. As their representative said; "We're here to make deals this week."We'll keep you abreast of all of the deals we hear about this week. In the meantime, check out our blabbering on Twitter.
