Despite the recession and credit crunch, investment sales, development and leases are still occurring in these areas, principal Dan Gonzalez tells GlobeSt.com. "We have several transactions in the works that justified us opening a third office right now." Appian opened its second office in Fredericksburg late last year for much the same reason--local deals that require a local presence. The company has about 100,000 square feet in development and construction management projects and 120,000 square feet of tenant rep deals in its pipeline.

The company's long term strategy, Gonzalez adds, is to tap into commercial real estate opportunities in such localities as Fairfax County, Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania County and the counties of Loudoun, Prince William, and Stafford in this manner. Legat was previously with Trust Properties.
