Reyes is moving his office, showroom and design operations to the new space. Joshua Lewin of Isaacs and Co. represented the designer in deal negotiations while Tom Lynch represented Trinity. Reportedly, asking rents for the space were in the $30's per square foot.
In the RENY article, BID president Ellen Baer says the area is home to a large number of large open floor plates which are often suitable to creative businesses like fashion, advertising and broadcast.
"Creative people tend to enjoy sitting in open floor plans to have the exchange of ideas," Baer told RENY. As the article points out, some have said that the arrival of graphic artists in the mid-19h century, then later printers and publishers, has a lasting legacy in the current creative "feel" of the neighborhood.
Reyes, who launched his label in 2004, has bloomed as a designer, with celebrities like singer Rihanna, Kristen Bell and Ginnifer Goodwin wearing his creations on the red carpet.
