CalSTRS and CBRE Investors worked together to implement numerous eco-friendly measures including water-conserving fixtures, lighting retrofits, occupancy sensors that help reduce power consumption, and green cleaning supplies and procedures. The changes, which led to the LEED-EB stamp of approval, are intended to ensure tenants' comfort within the building.
"We feel it is very important to have an environmentally sound building to reduce the amount of material going to landfills that may be re-used in the building environment and to ensure that future generations will have an environmentally friendly world in which to live," says Jason Wicks, manager of Pershing Point with CBRE Asset Services. "Our building upgrades help us to achieve these goals."
Pershing Point was built in 1960 and renovated in 2001. The two buildings, which are nearly 90% occupied, are connected by a three-story atrium that allows for a single address and contiguous floor plates.
