General Manager Craig Matuszewski, Real Estate Manager Sarah Russell and Chief Engineer Randy Arnold of CBRE's Asset Services Division worked with third-party engineering consultant Environmental Systems Design in achieving certification.

"Working through this process put us in touch with valuable 'green' experienced professionals who were able to advise us on many of the challenges that we faced during the LEED certification process," Matuszewski says. "The process can be quite complicated due to all the specific requirements, and having access to a group with working knowledge of sustainable practices helped us achieve our goal."

The property is currently about 79% occupied, with nearly 170,000 square feet remaining available, according to CBRE. The building also received the Energy Star certification for its work.

"Earning LEED certification validates our commitment to enhancing the environmental sustainability of 190 South LaSalle while making a positive contribution to the well-being of the Downtown Chicago community," says Mark Zikakis, Principal, CBRE Investors-Strategic Partners US. "The transformation of 190 South LaSalle is a significant achievement and supports our ongoing efforts to make the building a model of energy and resource efficiency."
