In a release, Steven Durels, EVP and director of leasing and real property for SL Green, gives credit to 100 Park's $72-million capital improvement program with attracting high-profile tenants. The REIT announced last week that the 825,815-square-foot 100 Park had achieved LEED-Silver certification.
Durels says in the release that the Aetna deal, in which the health care benefits company is relocating from 99 Park Ave., is part of "a flurry of leasing activity in the past 12 months ranging from BDO Seidman's 121,441-square-foot lease last August to First Wall Street's 15,945-square-foot deal and Wells Fargo Trade Capital's 57,009-square foot lease." He tells GlobeSt.com that Aetna is expected to occupy its new space in the first quarter of 2010.
Jones Lang LaSalle SVP Bill Korchak negotiated for Aetna in the transaction. S.L. Green was represented by a Cushman & Wakefield team that included vice chairman Tara Stacom, EVP Mitti Liebersohn, executive director Alexander Chudnoff, senior managing director Diana Biasotti and salespeople Jonathan Tootell and Andrew Ackerman.
